In July 2019, Troop 3 headed up to Worthington State Forest in New Jersey for a weekend hike on the Appalachian Trail. We camped Friday night at a campsite about a mile from Sunfish Pond, then headed north on the AT until we reached the Catfish Pond Fire Tower.
This was a shakedown hike for several of our scouts, who got to try out one of the new backpacking tents donated by Cabela’s of Hamburg, Pa. and make changes to their packs and gear based on lessons learned during our Pine Barrens winter hike in February 2019.
