Eagle Scout Project: The South Side Stairs

Troop 3’s latest Eagle Scout project is focused on improvements to the South Side Stairs in Easton, PA. The stone stairs climb from Smith Avenue up to Lachenour Avenue. Under the leadership of Life Scout John Danaher, the troop is painting the metal railings and the chain link fence attached to them, as well as staining the newer wooden fences.

The project also includes adding a new garden at the top of the stairs on Lachenour Avenue. It’s a challenging project with lots of stair climbing. The first work sessions, in mid-June 2024, included clean-up of the stairs to remove leaves, overgrown greenery, and garbage, as well as weed-whacking the site of the future garden. With the clean-up done, the scouts then launched into painting the railings and chain link fence.

Many thanks to the City of Easton, which provided supplies for painting the fence!

Work Days: June 15-16, 2024
